Field report
FIELD NOTES
Weather: Sunny, clear and windy.
The methane water reservoir was refilled from 60% remaining.
All data were downloaded and the sensors were cleaned without issues. After inspecting the placement of the three thermocouples that Pep had repositioned a few days before due to field work, it was noticed that all three of them could have been positioned a little further away from the tower than usual. This seems to have caused the rods to bend a little more than usual due to the pull and weight of the cables.
Furthermore, the rightmost thermocouple appeared to be put less deep than needed and the ground level tape (green/yellow stripes) appeared clearly to be above ground by maybe 10cm (approx eye measurement). Attempted to push it down by hand but it would not budge.
To correct the error it was needed to extract the rods completely and reposition, but I lacked the right tools and helping hands at that point. It was left as it was, so we can position it correctly when we will be more people.
From the data logger measurement readings, it also appears that a 2nd rod read higher temperatures at the min2 level, but I could not see the table clearly to verify. I believe it was the leftmost themocouple.
From all readings of the min2 measurements, profile 2 seems the lowest, hence assuming, the one that is correctly below ground.
Field laptop was 10 seconds ahead of the data logger, but the data logger is closed to UTC according to my phone and is perceived as correct. No action was taken.
