Field report

Weather: Fully covered, a bit warm but nowhere near as warm as last time. The previous hours it has been lightly raining.

We were at Eurecat CRC during the morning, doing a workshop for WP4. We had lunch and headed towards Riet Vell at 16.15 local time.

When we arrived, we noticed that the plants were really height. There were patches of plants that were tilted and squashed (are they a different species?). Surprisingly, the field next to it did not have this.

There were a lot of dragonflies and mosquitos and spiders with their webs and nests.

We refilled the water bucket, which was completely empty (the sensors were full of spiders, so we attribute it to that). The CH4 sensor’s cap was full of spiders inside. We had to remove it and kill them, which took a long time. We put it back and added steel wool to avoid more spiders to nest there. Spiders had also bielt a nest on the top lens of the CO2 sensor.

When we connected the computer to the tower, the co2 software was not connecting. We had to reboot, and that worked. The plot was showing. We downloaded the met and the flux data, and we realized that flux data was not being recorded since 2nd of July at 2am, one week ago. Metdata was available in this period.

Co2 clock was off 1 min from pc (which was utc). We reset the time. Datalogger was well synched.

In addition, we collected three 20cm soil cores within the tower footprint, to check the OM lability.

We also measured veg and water height.

We left the site and went to Sant Jaume d’Enveja were our apartment was.

Water Level:  _8_ cm (7 ,8 and 9)

Veg height: __82__ cm (70, 70, 80, 90, 70, 80, 90, 80, 80, 110)
