Field report

Weather: Warm, half covered, very light breeze.

We arrived at Riet Vell after working at Alfacada during the morning.

We refilled the water bucket, which was almost empty. We could only fill it until 90-95%, since we had no water left.

We cleaned the sensors, which were very gross. Many spiders had their nests, eggs and spiderwebs there. The HMP was filled with them. The Li7500 had a nest right under the top lens. We removed them, but it was not easy to clean them completely. We suggested to install an anti-insect package near the sensors, as well as to bring soap and clean the sensors with water and soap. Luckily, the metbox was clean inside.

We downloaded the data (for flux: raw results and summaries). The plot in the Li7500 software was showing. Clocks were ok.

Checking the met data we realised that TC_min32_2 was switched with TC_32_3. We wired them correctly (we will need to fix that on the data processing!).

We cleared out the higher plants around the tower setting. We will need to continue doing this during the summer months, since they grow really quickly. We used a sickle that we borrowed from the Volunteer’s house.

We left the site and headed towards els Muntells to get lunch and afterwards returned to Alfacada to continue with the VOC’s experiments.

To-do list:

  • Refill water bucket
  • Clean sensors (water and soap, add anti-instect package?)
  • Download met data
  • Download flux data
  • Check clocks
  • Desbrossar
  • Return sickle
