Weather: Clear sky and a bit windy.
We arrived at 7 utc.
The bucket from the CH4 sensor was approximately 70% full.
We cleaned the sensors and took readings.
Soil Sensors
We were unable to put the soil sensors back in the field because the farmers are still working the soil.
One of thermocouple (TC) profiles was installed on a thicker rod (the old one was too think and would bend), but still was placed outside the field. We left the thick rods at the site to replace them next time we are in the field when we also plan to install the 3rd thermocouple profile.
Data downloading issues
While downloading the metdata, we were able to retrieve the met30min file without problems. However, the biomet file was downloaded with the suffix “biomet_20241219” instead of the correct “biomet 30 min” filename. We attempted to rename it, but it failed. When merging metdata from the different files special attention needs to be places during this period in order to mistakenly miss some data.
Additionally we were not able to see the datalogger status table: “error polling status table”, which we suspect is related to having recently formatted the datalogger . This issue needs to be resolved on our next visit. Ariane thinks we need to reset the datalogger to factory settings.
When downloading the flux data, the CO₂ software failed to graph the data. We need to verify whether the downloaded data is valid and troubleshoot further if necessary.
We left the field at 8.30 utc. We went to Amposta and arrived there at 9 utc, for the Eurecat CRC workshop.
To-do list for next fieldwork day:
- Take screenshots and pictures for the tower manual
- Construct and install new tc
- Reposition soil sensors correctly
- Check elevation with gps
- Solve datalogger downloading files
- Check if fluxdata is ok
- Check if software is showing data
